Approach
Neuroscience forms the foundational basis of this therapeutic approach. Symptoms are not just sensations, they are a result of complex interactions between the brain, body and emotions. Your brain turns symptoms on, and it can also turn them off. Results can occur within weeks, even if you’ve been suffering for years. With compassion and expertise, we will explore personalized techniques to calm your nervous system, retrain your brain and safely process emotions involved. Using individualized coaching and evidence based tools, like Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) and Tension/Trauma Releasing Exercise (TRE), we guide you toward lasting relief.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT)

PRT is an approach designed to retrain the brain to break the cycle of chronic symptoms by addressing how it interprets bodily signals. It aims to break this cycle by retraining the brain to recognize these signals as safe, reducing the perception of pain and other chronic symptoms. This shift highlights the brain’s neuroplasticity—its ability to rewire itself—offering hope for non-invasive, mind-body solutions to long-term suffering. In a 2022 JAMA Psychiatry study, 98% of people in the PRT group reported reduced pain.

Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET)

EAET is based on the principle that suppressed or unprocessed emotions can manifest as physical symptoms. This occurs outside of our conscious awareness. EAET helps clients break the connection between emotional suppression and physical symptoms by identifying, exploring, and expressing emotions leading to relief in mind-body symptoms. A study in Pain (2017), demonstrated EAET’s effectiveness in reducing chronic pain and improving emotional well-being by addressing underlying emotional conflicts.

Tension/Trauma Releasing Exercise (TRE)

TRE allows you to tap into the body’s natural tremor mechanism, rooted in neurophysiology, to release stored tension and trauma held in muscles and fascia. Stress and trauma activate the autonomic nervous system, leading to chronic muscle tension and hyperarousal of the sympathetic nervous system. TRE involves simple exercises to induce therapeutic tremors, restoring nervous system balance. A 2024 study published in Psychology, suggests TRE reduces stress and improves symptoms of trauma and anxiety by facilitating the body’s innate stress-release process. Whether you experience muscle tension, garden variety stress or more serious PTSD, everyone can benefit from learning TRE. Mammals are hardwired to tremor. Clients often experience reduced muscle tension, improved sleep, decreased anxiety, and a greater sense of well-being within just a few sessions.
